Body piercing kits: How do you choose?

Whether you choose to pierce yourself or are an apprentice body-piercer beginning your career you will need the right tools and materials to do the job correctly.  Many sites offer varying sizes and prices of piercing kits and it can be very confusing to know which kit is the right one for you.  At the outset, you will need to know what type and how many piercings you are going to perform.  The answer to these questions will determine the type of kit you will need.

The other crucial factor is choosing a body piercing kit that is sterile, not only including sterile needles, tools and prep but also including pre-sterilized body jewelry.  If the listing does not say ‘pre-sterilized’ or ‘sterile’ body jewelry (and does not come in a sterile, color-changing pouch) it is NOT sterile!  Common sense begs the question: what good does it do to use a sterile needle, sterile tools, and prep, if you are just going to stick an un-sterile piece of jewelry into the skin?  There is a reason why professionals use pre-sterilized body jewelry, and so should you.  Thankfully, sterile body piercing kits are available and can be purchased for a surprisingly low cost.
