The Prince Albert piercing (also known as a ‘PA’) is a male genital piercing that is one of the most popular genital piercings performed today.  This piercing involves piercing the penis from the outside of the frenulum and through the urethra.   The size of needle used is between 14g to 8g, with 12g a common starting point.  Once healed, the piercing can be stretched slightly to accommodate larger gauge jewelry.   The type of jewelry that can be worn are: captive bead rings, circular barbells, curved barbells and a Prince’s wand.  The PA heals rather quickly compared to other body piercings, generally taking between 2 to 4 weeks.

Many PA wearers experience enhanced sexual stimulation for themselves and their partners, but report possible discomfort if the jewelry encounters the cervix during intercourse.  If the bearer of the piercing is circumcised, the PA piercing is normally centered.  In bearers that are uncircumcised, the piercing will normally be off to the side to allow room for the foreskin to reposition itself.
