How long will my body piercing take to heal?

Proper aftercare of a new body piercing is dependent upon the quality of the instructions given by the body piercer, and the diligent execution of those instructions by individual that has been pierced.  No matter what type of body piercing you receive (ears included), make sure you ask what aftercare procedure you should use during healing.  Ideally, you should be given the instructions in a clear and easy-to-follow manner, along with any materials you will need (i.e. sea-salt, etc.).  If you are not given any instructions, or given incorrect body piercing aftercare instructions, you can find them at this or other sites posted for reading or download.

Healing is unique to each individual, but generally the times associated with the following piercings are fairly universal; Oral Piercings (tongue, lip, cheek)  take approximately 2 to 3 months; Navel piercings 4 months to 1 year; Eyebrow piercings 6 to 8 weeks; Nostril piercings 2 to 4 months; Septum piercings 6 to 8 months; Genital piercings (male) 4 to 6 weeks; (female) 4 to 10 weeks; nipple piercings 6 months to 1 year; Cartilage piercings (ear) 4 months to 1 year.
